Sydney has always been in my top 5 dream destinations and when the chance came up for me to visit, for work, last summer I just could not believe my luck! I had all kinds of expectations for my trip to down under but from the moment I arrived, every second was amazing and Aussies were just on top.
Imagine, a city where surfing is possible before going to work? #LifeGoals.
I didn't even wait for Jet lag to set in, we arrived at our hotel after flying for 20 hours, checked in, grabbed breakfast, and then head straight to Bondi Beach, which was a quick 30-minute taxi ride away. Even though it was the start of Aussie winter, there were surfers catching waves. The following day I headed out to Manly Beach and lived my dream of surfing in Sydney!
I was there during Vivid Sydney, and as a photographer, I appreciated experiencing and capturing the many colourful and creative displays of art across the city.
Growing up in Marseille, France I dreamed often of visiting the famous Sydney icons - the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, but being there to see them used as canvases for colourful stories was unexpectedly magical and I remember thinking "wow here I am, on the other side of the world, witnessing these icons coming to life".
We stayed at the Tank Stream hotel in the Sydney CBD and admittedly, if it wasn't for work I might not have chosen that hotel, as I imagined it was a business hotel. But I am glad we stayed there as it is close to everything, which made getting around easy. With the exception of Bondi Beach and Manly Beach, we walked everywhere, we were just a few minutes away from the Harbour, the Bridge, the Opera house, the Botanical Gardens, restaurants, Martin Place, and the Queen Victoria Building! And after a long day of work, the bed was so comfy!
Aussies, what a life you have down there, hopefully I'll drop by for a second round soon! #2017TravelGoals
